lotion for dry skin is ';supposed'; to be more concentrated in moisturizing than ';regular'; lotion. really, it is probably a marketing gimmick. it is about the ingredients...
i recommend for chapped lips to use vaseline/petroleum jelly. it works the best of anything. this would also work on super dry skin, but it will leave it feeling greasy. the best lotions for actually moisturizing dry skin have been the thick body lotions from bath %26amp; body works. they work for me the best of anything %26amp; they smell great as well.

Chap-stick is a brand of lip balm. I like ones with lip conditioner in them and Carmex. Body cream is thicker than body lotion. If you're using it on heels and elbows, you want a cream. The rest of your body is fine with lotion. I like Avon.

You can use it, but it only helps with some of the symptoms. Abreva is an over the counter med that is used to treat/shorten the healing time and there are also prescription meds that may help: acyclovir or penciclovir. ok the exact same thing happened to my cousin and this remedy began to work with in a week and then lasted 4 weeks she put vaseline on (alot) before bed all around the mouth even the bits that are not chapped this prevents chapping , in the morning get some warm water on a piece of cotton wool and wipe the parts where the vaseline was then put your chap stick on like you usually would do then in mid afternoon put body moisture's on the chapped areas don't go inside your mouth not tasty lol make sure its one for sensitive skin my cousin used coconut oil :)
then repeat this every day for 4 weeks then stop and just do the vaseline thing every time you think that it may flare up again but not the other stuff until you get a proper flare up :)

the tray they used broke my lip fairly deep.

ok you just need to get chapstick, i used burts bees or whatever and just load the lips up with that stuff before you go to bed and in the morning and it should be healed in ...... 3 days.
go to bed with neosporin in that spot... and during the day, keep them moisturized, whether with lotion, moisturizing balm, look for moisturizing, NOT protecting...

Well, It's just a habbit a lot of people have. Some are nail bitters but I'm always biting mine. My bottom lip is always chappy because I bite them. Why? I do it when I'm either nervous or I just do it for a habbit. And my mother tried to help by smacking my hand every time I bit them. But where should I get my chap stick? My friend has two lip rings (next to each other) and he can move them side to side without any sort of issue.
So it's no problem to just put on chapstick around them.
He does it all the time.
You can put chapstick on fine with a lip ring. there shouldn't be any problem. however your pericing should be fully healed before you put anything like chapstick near it. If you are getting it done anytime soon, youll be fine.
You just put it on like you normally would only when you get to the lip ring you have to kind of move it to one side. Or you could use your finger. It's really not as hard as it might seem thinking about it.
Couple of ways:
Take the ring out, apply chapstick, put the ring back in.
Another way is to just do light coats around the ring, move your lips together, and wipe off any residue from the ring with a tissue.
just try to avoid the area, or get a ring that is not a hoop for when your lips are chapped
It's very easy and the ring will move easily once it has healed. It will move just like an earring on an ear does. Don't worry about what people say, if you like it that's all that matters.

aveeno intense relief lip balm. it works amazingly for me, isn't too greasy, doesn't wear off for quite some time and even has a soothing, minty sensation and taste to it.

I use 'Nivia a Kiss of Moisture' and I love it!!! And if your lips are REALLY bad I would put some neosporin on them at night, dont use vasaline because it will make them hydrated now but in the longrun they'll get dryer (just like when you lick your lips) and try to exfoliate your lips once a week with sugar (sugars natural so it wont have anything harmful for you lips in it).I have chapped lips.They become worse during the winters.Can you suggest a good lip balm for me?

I think softlips is good to prevent chapping or if your lips arent chapped too bad.. But if it is bad, i'd go for lucas pawpaw ointment.

my friend is on a new medication for her skin/acne (ipledge program medication) and the medication is drying her skin quite badly. it doesn't seem terrible to me but she is mostly upset about her lips being very dry and shes taken to biting her lips and peeling the dry skin off them. so im wondering whats the best and most potent lip balm or chapstick to help her lips until shes finished with the awful ipledge program. I love love love the Hollister lipbalm. and it has spf 15 in it. plus it smells delicious. dont use chapstick, it only has SPF 4 in it, and it wont do as good of a job protecting the lips against getting sunburnt from the sun.

I would try using baby wipes with aloe instead of tissues. As far as treating the skin, I would suggest using either Bag Balm (old fashioned ointment in a blue tin, usually with the baby stuff) or A%26amp;D ointment (not the creamy stuff...if you can stand the smell). Either one is good, and a little goes a long way.

Okay, this is going to seem strange, but I swear it works. Go to the store and get some garlic spray. The kind that comes in a pump bottle that you spray on vegetables. Spray it up your nose. It doesn't hurt and in fact is not even unpleasant. It will clear up your cold like a miracle and then you can treat your poor skin with A%26amp;D ointment. I thought my mother was crazy for recommending this but, like I said before, it was like a miracle.
You're gonna have to put Vaseline on it. It looks shiny until it's healed, but it's the fastest way to do it. Or you also try Neosporin. Either way, it's going to be shiny for a while. Good Luck!

when you start using chapsticks and all, your lips will get used to them and dry out faster, making you put more and more on. ive had the same problem.. i used chapsticks every 20mins for 2 weeks, now that i didnt put any on in 5 days my lips have dry dead cells coming off.. buy a chapstick that has lots of moisturizer (preferably one that has no flavour because ive noticed they dry out faster) the best one i like is Labello. after you put it on, you can put lipgloss on top. vasline and lipgloss dont work good together. the weather also has something to do with that, put some on before going outside and licking your lips also causes them to dryWhy do my lips keep getting chap?

put vaseline on your lips and take an old toothbrush and brush your lips (with cold water on the toothbrush). then put more vaseline on your lips. *this works best for me*

I carry a little jar in mi purse eveywhere I go! Ok, so all you have to do is put it on whenever you can! Also, put a good amount on rite before you go to bed and leave it on over night, that really works wonders!! I LOVE the stuff!! Also, if your lips are chapped from the sun you and put carmex on around you lips, like the skin right around your lips, which helps makes your lips smoother too, but do note it does kinda sting when you put it around your lips, but not to bad. Actually I've been using it latly because I had no spf on mi lips while spending a day at the beach. The stuff I have is spf 15, and works awesome!! I also perfer the cherry flavored to the origional! So look for cherry, spf 15, carmex! Lol you can find it mostly everywhere! Really hope I helped!

Burts bees. It is seriously the best chapstick I have ever used. All of my friends use it. My dentist uses it. Most of the women at the MAC counter also use it. Best chapstick I've ever bought and I've been around a bit.

When i have super dry, cracked lips I use the blistex ointment for a few days until it clears up. but everyday I use carmex and exfoliate with my toothbrush each night lightly. Good luck = )

I carry a little jar in mi purse eveywhere I go! Ok, so all you have to do is put it on whenever you can! Also, put a good amount on rite before you go to bed and leave it on over night, that really works wonders!! I LOVE the stuff!! Also, if your lips are chapped from the sun you and put carmex on around you lips, like the skin right around your lips, which helps makes your lips smoother too, but do note it does kinda sting when you put it around your lips, but not to bad. Actually I've been using it latly because I had no spf on mi lips while spending a day at the beach. The stuff I have is spf 15, and works awesome!! I also perfer the cherry flavored to the origional! So look for cherry, spf 15, carmex! Lol you can find it mostly everywhere! Really hope I helped!

1) before going out side, apply chapstick to that dry part. i know it sounds weird, but it is better than vasaleine.

When you go to bed at night, put a dab of neosporin on the area. Neosporin has antibiotics to heal the skin and has a base of petroleum jelly to soften the skin and make it less chapped. Do this everynight for about a week and you should notice a difference. If you can't find neosporin buy a product called triple antibiotic ointment it is the same thing, is usually generic and sold at virtually all drugstores and discount stores, and costs a whole bunch than the brand name neosporin. I have bad eczema in the winter on my upper arms, a doctor told me about the neosporin thing a year ago, I did it and it works very well. Good Luck!

Try not to lick the lips alot. you can also find vaseline in a lip stick, make sure it says vaseline 100% petroleum jelly. chap sticks will not be as good.Blistick(trash it). reccomendation: when using the vaseline, use only glossy(wet) Lipstick(lipgloss) with it. the drying lipstick can prevent the vaseline from reaching the skin. My son had this for quite some time. They would peel and bleed and nothing seemed to help. The dermatologist gave him a prescription cortisone cream which seemed to heal things up pretty good. I believe he also used Aquaphor on the lips for moisture. It may be a good idea to see a dermatologist if it really never gets better.

You just have lips that are more dry than others. i have the same problem, i can not wear lipstick as this just dries them out even more. All i wear is chapstick, i keep it on me. If i am going out somewhere i put chapstick on first then tinted gloss as this dries them out less than lipstick. Dont wear anything execpt chapstick for the fist while so your lips can start to heal. And dont lick your lips it only makes it worse. Buy a pack of 5 sticks and stash them everywhere. this will work if you can keep applying it long enough to see the results. It is a pain but it does work. Good luck and Good health to you

What chap stick/lip balm do u recommend? help!?
ok so i live in California and we've been having crazy weather[[really hot, then really cold, and a lot of wind!]] and its really harsh on my lips. the corners of my split like horizontal paper cuts[[ and wont heal cuz everytime i open my mouth to talk or eat they split again]] and the middle of my bottom lip also split. and thier just very dry. i was using the 'softlips origional' til i finished it today and it didnt help much.
and suggestions what would be a good chapstick/lip balm for me?

Here is what I would suggest.
1. Blistex lip infusion is really good for cracked lips. It is really moisturising and has a SPF factor of 12. Its also really soothing because the applicator is a metal ball which is really cooling. Its not too sticky either which means your hair won't get stuck in it when its windy.
And a little less important. Its fairly cheap. $6-10 ad it tastes pretty good.
Even when your lips aren't cracked I would suggest using vaseline all the time because it keeps your lips nice and conditioned. I put it on every night before I go to bed.What chap stick/lip balm do u recommend? help!?

I have dry lips and if theyre dry I cant help picking the skin on them so I have tried everything going but nothing lasts long enough or is deep moisturizing without being oily. I swear by Palmers cocoa butter swivel stick it is awesome and smells like chocolate cake without tasting. The natural butters mean the product soaks deep into skin layers and moisturize better lasting longer. Try it and see!
I use Vaseline Lip Therapy. I use it for all seasons, for my dry lips in the summer and cracked lips in the winter. I love using it because it doesn't feel heavy on my lips. I like how it glides on smooth and is not sticky at all and it makes my lips feel soft and hydrated all day long. The Lip therapy comes in a white tube with a red cap on it. I sometimes get mine at target and walmart. I've recently stocked up on them because of the cold weather...and its only 1.00!!

as plain and boring as it sounds the best chap stick ive ever used was well... chapstick. you can find it anywhere at drugstores or target or walmart. ive tried lots of lip balm and they usually smell weird or taste gross or rub off easily and don't work for crap on my lips.

Here is what I would suggest.
1. Blistex lip infusion is really good for cracked lips. It is really moisturising and has a SPF factor of 12. Its also really soothing because the applicator is a metal ball which is really cooling. Its not too sticky either which means your hair won't get stuck in it when its windy.
And a little less important. Its fairly cheap. $6-10 ad it tastes pretty good.
Even when your lips aren't cracked I would suggest using vaseline all the time because it keeps your lips nice and conditioned. I put it on every night before I go to bed.What chap stick/lip balm do u recommend? help!?

I have dry lips and if theyre dry I cant help picking the skin on them so I have tried everything going but nothing lasts long enough or is deep moisturizing without being oily. I swear by Palmers cocoa butter swivel stick it is awesome and smells like chocolate cake without tasting. The natural butters mean the product soaks deep into skin layers and moisturize better lasting longer. Try it and see!
I use Vaseline Lip Therapy. I use it for all seasons, for my dry lips in the summer and cracked lips in the winter. I love using it because it doesn't feel heavy on my lips. I like how it glides on smooth and is not sticky at all and it makes my lips feel soft and hydrated all day long. The Lip therapy comes in a white tube with a red cap on it. I sometimes get mine at target and walmart. I've recently stocked up on them because of the cold weather...and its only 1.00!!
I Like the body shop one best, they come in loads of flavours, the watermelon and cocoa butter ones are the nicest in my opinion (: They're really moisturising and add a bit of colour

I had really chapped lips for the past few days, and my bottom lip split and started bleeding?
They were extremely chapped for some reason, but they are better now. I am eating healthy and drinking a lot of water, but yesterday my lip split. I could see blood kind of in the split, but it wasn't dripping blood. I put lotion on my lips (yes, lotion is fine for lips, because thin skin covers your lips so lotion works on your lips as long as you don't like then.) The split feels much better now, but I was wondering how I could make it heal faster? I plan on puting lotion on my lips tonight and slathering on natural-organic every hour or so tomarrow. I know if I yawn or sneeze really hard my lip will split badly again.

I've tried Vaseline, it didn't really do much..

I know I get dry lips in the winter and I think Burt's Bee's is a really good product. It really works and it's made from 100% all natural products, especially beeswax which helps dry lips. Use natural stuff.
Mix honey and sugar together and 'scrub' your lips gently to get rid of the dead flaky peely skin.
Then dab a little extra virgin olive oil on your lips, then put vaseline on your lips so the olive oil stays. Vaseline is meant for keeping moisture in.. it doesn't make it.

Use Aveeno lip conditioner with SPF 15 day and night. During the daytime reapply after they dry out. During night put a lot and leave it overnight. There are times that I don't even have to use it daytime because my lips are so moist from the night treatment. Though is better to use it during day time because it protects your lips from the sunlight.

I went to my doctor and got a prescription for Valtrex. Anytime I feel the tingle I take a couple pills and it is enough to keep it from becoming an issue...sometimes even stops it completely.
Herpecin cream or Abreva are ok....although I disagree that either will make it heal faster.
As barbaric as this sounds....I actually tried this suggestion and it worked really well....Pop the sucker with a sterile needle and then scrub with a cotton ball soaked with alcohol. The alcohol burns like a son of a gun...but it worked surprisingly well..

keep it moist so it doesnt crak and bled cause then it will be worse. also, i use abreva and they go away in two days but keep a lot of moisture. oh you could also go to a store that sells band instruments and buy medicated chap stick there it kinda like lip gloss but lasts longer.

Lysine is actually an enzyme which your body is not producing enough off while you are having the cold sore symptoms.
It comes in tablet form and you can find it in the vitamin/herbal remedy section of your pharmacy or department store.
You can actually crush up one of the tablets and put the powder on the sore at night to help dry it up more quickly.
Follow the instructions on the Lysine bottle for the correct dosage to take.
If I get that warning tingly feeling when the virus is just starting to react, I will take double doses of the Lysine and will usually stop the breakout completely, or if not lesson the effects.
Keeping your lips moist during a breakout is important, so that your lips will not crack and enable the breakout to spread more quickly.
If you do try the Lysine, and put it on your sore at night, do not moisten the sore at that time, just the rest of your lip(s.)
Try essential oil of lavender directly on the sore. I also heard of a product called lysine that works for a friend of mine. Not sure where she gets it, but she swears by it.

The cover-girl amaze-mint wet-slicks are cheap, and they work amazingly.
If you want to go pricier, I like anything Too-Faced.
They stay on for like 4 hours.
And they show very well, and have plumpers in them.
If you want something crazy, mix eyeshadow with vaseline to make your own shade.

The cover-girl amaze-mint wet-slicks are cheap, and they work amazingly.
If you want to go pricier, I like anything Too-Faced.
They stay on for like 4 hours.
And they show very well, and have plumpers in them.
If you want something crazy, mix eyeshadow with vaseline to make your own shade.

Ok....I know this sounds disgusting but the best thing for your lips is the oil your own body produces. If you take your finger and run it across your forehead and then rub your lips you can moisten your lips without any harm done to you. Really, really gross sounding I know. But I learned it from an older guy once and it really does work. Of course you don't really want to do it if you have make up on though. Also don't like your lips.

The bars are a scented glossy chap stick, the smackers that comes in bottles are a gloss.
Basically a flavored chap stick =o)

i say that it's lip balm, but not chap stick.

every night before you go to bed put on Vaseline(petroleum jelly) it works!
STEPS:
1. Dip a toothbrush in some unsalted magarine or just some warm water and rub it over your lips. Don't be too rough. This should get rid of any dead skin on your lips.
2. Next, grab a clean towel. Wet the corner of it with warm water-just a little bit. Rub the wet corner of the towel over your lips in one direction. Hold the towel there for about 20-30 seconds.
3. Your lips should be much better now-but just in case, rub on some unsalted magarine or moisturiser. Repeat this each night.
THINGS NEEDED:
1. Unsalted magarine/moisturiser
2. Hot-warm water
3. Clean towel
4. Clean toothbrush

STOP LICKING YOUR LIPS!!!!!! that just makes it worse. You can use carmex. It works really good!!! or you can try butter. Iv'e heard it works but ive never tried it

I have had this problem my whole life until I strarted using carmex. It is typically for cold sores but it works on chapped lips. Also start drinking a lot more water because you are probably a little dehydrated.

Honey. Apply to your lips and let it sit for 10-15 minutes, try not to lick it off in the meantime. When you brush your teeth brush your lips too, it helps exfoliate the dead skin. Do this a couple times a day for a few day and your lips should be soft as ever.
Other brands try, but nothing beats good old Carmex.

i was at the orthodontist and i had molds done of my teeth.
the tray they used broke my lip fairly deep.
it is very painful, i've been putting carmex on it the whole day, but it doesn't work.
